The Birth
Miniature wargaming is far more complex then merely pushing "toy soldiers" around a table. It has been around since around 500 BC and was believed first done Sun Tzu, the Chinese philosopher and military leader who wrote the famous work the "Art of War". Then, the game consisted of only differed colored stones, which represented various armies and stressed the movements of large units. Miniature wargaming, as we know it today, was the result of Sun Tzu's "wargame".
The Order of Proficiency:
1-Know the Rules
2-Know your own personal strength and weakness and that of your oppoenent (are you rash..is he, comulsive, etc. Do not become complacent. New gamers have won battles against veteran gamers who fell victim to this fault. Never underestimate your foe unless you are prepared to loose the battle.
2-Know the capabilities of your opponents "army" as well as your own. What they can and cannot do well, their strengths and weaknesses.
3-Know and apply the correct tactics. Don't be impatient and keep your cool. The quickest way to loose a game is to "loose your cool." Doing so, regardless of your learned abilities, will result in defeat on the game table. Remember...it just a game and don't expect your opponent to cut you a break because he is your friend. On the game table friendship should always remain constant, yet still remember that in all competitive events, even among friends, someone must loose in order for someone to win. Don't allow friendships to suffer, or even be lost forever, in any resolution.
